Soft Plays: love them or hate them, we can all agree they are lifesavers when it’s cold and wet outside, and our children absolutely love them – and it certainly tires them out! We are very lucky in Bristol to have plenty to choose from across the city and just outside in the neighbouring towns.
All of the soft plays below cater to children from 0 years, and some go right up to 12 years old, so there really is something for every little one, and they also all have a café!
1. Freedog Bristol
This is my local soft play, and one my daughter absolutely adores. Just across from Temple Meads train station, behind Fowlers, you’ll find Freedog, which has something for kids of all ages (even adults!) – from rock climbing to trampolines. But most importantly, a three-storey soft play, including 2 slides for over 2-year-olds, and a puppy pen for those under 1 year old.
Adults may go on the soft play to supervise, and there is a great café serving really nice coffee and refreshments. It’s worth mentioning they have heaters above the seating area for the colder days, which is very welcome. There is also a 50-space car park which is free (register your car registration when signing in at reception).
2. Keynsham Leisure Centre
After the multi million pound refurbishment of Keynsham leisure centre they opened a lovely bright, clean and inviting multi level soft play with slides, tunnels, mini trampolines, a ball pit for children up to 6 years old.
For the smaller ones there is also a separate under 3s area with range of sensory equipment suitable for baby’s from 3 months old.
There is also a great cafe here and the leisure centre has swimming pools should you want to have even more fun!
3. Jungle Mania
On the ground floor of the galleries shopping center, there is the only soft play in bristol city centre that has a two story soft play waiting for your little ones with LED spiders web, ninja course, ball pit, large slides and separate baby and toddler area with a musical roundabout.
The perfect location for after a day out shopping if they have behaved themselves! There is a cafe that overlooks the soft play for the parents to enjoy themselves while the children run wild!
4. Noah’s Ark Play Centre
On the busy Bath Road in Brislington you can find Noahs Ark play centre which has multiple levels of softplay for your little ones to climb, run and slide around in.
This is one of Bristol’s older soft plays and you can see that when you arrive but that doesn’t put the little ones off as they still find it extremely fun especially the long slide, There is also a separate area for the toddlers to enjoy.
Soft Play Near Bristol
Cowtastic at Farringtons
Just a short drive outside Bristol to the lovely Farrington Gurney you will find Farringtons Farm which is geared up ready to greet you and you’re children with a Play barn soft play, farm park, cafe, fish and chip shop, farm Shop and different events through out the year giving you and you’re little ones plenty to do!
There is a baby area for the under 2s to play and explore but unfortunately during my visit here it was overrun by older children and the staff or parents didn’t seem to care and smaller children couldn’t play
For the over 2s they enjoy a large 2 level softplay with slides, ropes and ball pits , For the adults you can enjoy lunch and light snacks in the play barn cafe that are sourced locally.
The playbarn is powered by Solar power and there is a meter board showing how much energy has been saved – pretty cool!
Cattle Country Cow Shed
Head just outside North Bristol to Berkeley you will find a brand new state of the art soft play at cattle country farm park that opened in September 2023.
In a brand new building a three story high cow print themed soft play awaits you’re children with slides, obstacles, light up ball pits and technology where children can compete with each other in the cattle run.
There are two areas for the under fives with a tiny town roleplay area and a toddler soft play to explore and build up confidence
Soft Play Cafes Bristol
1. Skyboat Cafe
Skyboat Cafe is a lovely cosy little welcoming cafe in Redland for you and your little ones that gives you a warm feeling as you approach it and once inside you just feel at ease and can enjoy quality time with your children.
Its a modern cafe where there baristas serve amazing coffees and there is an excellent selection of cakes and light snacks
The soft play here is small as you would expect in a play cafe but it will keep them busy for a good hour and its a nice break from the madness of the usual style of soft play, I recommend coming here here with friends and there children, It is also the place to be for babys with there mood lighting.
The Soft Plays that are now sadly CLOSED
Soft plays come and go unfortunately but there are some online listings out there that still list soft plays that have been gone for years! Its frustrating that’s why we will make sure that our post is updated monthly to make sure everyone is still open!
