Strawberry Picking Bristol

Last Updated: March 9, 2025

I always remember going strawberry picking near Bristol with my parents during the summers of my childhood. It was a tradition we cherished and something we looked forward to each summer.

For many of us in Bristol, picking strawberries isn’t just about the lush, sweet, and juicy strawberries you gather; it’s a nostalgic journey back to what we used to do when we were young, making it the perfect family outing for you and your children.

We are lucky with our city being surrounded by countryside, but it appears that the locations for strawberry picking in Bristol are not common knowledge. So, I decided to put that right, and I have found the best ones in and around Bristol, allowing you to plan your strawberry adventure for strawberry picking summer of 2024!

We are now heading up the M5 in search of those perfect strawberries with a 40-minute drive up to Bentham, which is near Stroud, to find Primrose Vale Farm. It is a beautiful place to pick strawberries, with a field surrounded by trees and hills; it gives the perfect summer setting right on the edge of the Cotswolds.

The strawberries are all grown on raised platforms, which makes them easier to pick and keeps them away from the slugs!

Another popular family-run farm offering pick-your-own since the 1970s near the Quantocks can be found just an hour away south of Bristol. With 25 acres of land, the Quick family, who have been here for the last century, offer pick-your-own for strawberries, raspberries, gooseberries, loganberries, redcurrants, blackcurrants, rhubarb, and broad beans.

Due to the British weather, it is worth checking their website when planning your visit to find out what is available. Most fruits are ready to pick around June/July. The farm also encourages people to bring their own punnets (ice cream tubs, etc.), but they can supply them if you don’t.
